Meet Dino!

From Dino's mom:

So Dinosaur was originally found in wandering around in Greenville SC. He had been wandering around for quite some time and someone called the shelter and they took him in and they held him until his time was up there and then he got moved to the Blue Ridge Humane Society where a person my wife and I know got him adopted him by this time he had gotten his at least third name Lewie. Then when Louis was adopted he was named champ and the family that adopted him some of the family members were really abusive to him With a known history to hit and kick dogs. He was physically assaulted and screamed at all the time along with the general things that come with being neglected no access to food no access to water no proper care. The children of the household did whatever they wanted to him. A long string of events happened that led my wife and I to gaining ownership of Dinosaur. We decided in 30 minutes to take him in and ask our landlord if we could and we did. We wanted to go get him that night as per he was left in the big ice storm that happened in January the worst one we’ve had in a while. When we arrived he was tied to the porch with about 3 to 5 inches of lead he could not even jump up to greet somebody he just sat there with one tiny spot where snow had melted. I went to pet him and he was so sweet and so gentle.

His collar was a massive one and it was cutting into his skin he does have permanent hair loss from it. He also has some scars that we are not sure how he got them.

We tried taking him into our car and he just wanted to go back and sit in that spot. I tried calling him all his previous names- but then We were listening to a song called “Die Like Dinoz.” And I said “his ears make him look like a Dinosaur.” And he looked at me and turned his head! He was terrified on the way home but came home and met his brother out other pup. He did fight with him and chewed up stuff out of anxiety!! It took probably about 6 months for him to be relatively okay to few comfortable enough to sleep or relax. From there he came out of his shell he learned to play like a dog, bark like a dog, not to be afraid of his toys. He is afraid of many things like opening a canned drink, the ceiling fan, large tree roots, fire hydrants, and anything he has never seen before. He loves chasing birds and he LOVES CINNAMON AND BROWN SUGAR EVERYTHING. he still has anxiety but we are over here healing all the trauma. He is the best the sweetest boy we are so lucky he fell into our hands. Every night he curls up beside me under the covers and I can’t sleep without him!! Dino Lewie Jackson <3
