Meet Jojo!

A little after a year ago, I received a phone call from a lady, she said that there was a pitbull in a public shelter in Sebring Fl and he was going to be put down because he was Heartworm positive and unfortunately for him, he was also a pitbull.

When I spoke with this lady, I didn’t know what to do because I didn’t have any space for this guy, but at the same time I didn’t wanted to turn my back on him, so I said, I’m taking him out, I promise. Right then I call the shelter and asked them what kind of paperwork they needed from us because at that time we didn’t have a relationship with this shelter. I asked the lady at the shelter, if it was ok for me to get him the following day, the lady said, I’m sorry but I don’t know if we are going to be able to hold him for you, on less you get him today, It was late in the afternoon already, I wouldn’t be able to make it there before they close that day. Some how I received another phone call, about the same dog, I couldn’t believe what she was saying, she said, I can pick up the dog from the shelter under your rescue’s name if you can come tomorrow and get him, I said, would you do that? and she said, of course I would. Waoooooo to me that was a miracle, I was so happy, I couldn’t sleep that night.

I go up early in the morning and i when to get my pitbull. When I saw him, I gave him a big hug and I promise him that I was going to do everything in my power to save his life.

The following day I took him to the vet to be tested again for Heartworm, I was hoping that at the shelter maybe they made a mistake but the doctor came with the result, and it was positive, I was so sad, the doctor said, we should start the treatment soon, so we started it that day.

The first injection was horrible for him, he cry and got very wicked, I was very worried because he didn’t wanted to eat anything. That night he was laying on the couch and I kept checking on him through night, I was afraid he wasn’t going to make it, but he did and amen for that, he spend six months with this treatment, after we finish we tested him again, JoJo is a Heartworm negative little boy.

Now JoJo is a health happy boy that made it out of public shelter alive.
