Meet Bagel!

From Bagel's Parents:

Bagel (originally Dino) was adopted in December 2020 from Amazing Strays Rescue, a rescue organization based out of San Diego, CA that mostly takes in Mexican street dogs from Tijuana. We were scrolling Petfinder and saw those ears and were immediately obsessed. We named him Bagel because he is such a unique looking mutt with his coloring and those gigantic ears - he is an everything Bagel! We took him everywhere in San Diego, but in true pandemic puppy fashion, socializing him when we weren’t supposed to be socializing was difficult and he came to us as a nervous puppy.

Around 9-10 months old he started showing some reactivity toward strangers, which only got worse when we moved back to Colorado. We have had a long road of training, but after over a year of trying to figure it out, we are finally in a place where we know his triggers, how to safely introduce new people and what kinds of activities are right for him. We are so proud of how far he has come. He’s a great adventure buddy - he loves hiking and camping with us, but he is also a floppy noodle boy at home. He loves to snuggle and just be touched at all times. That is the hardest part about owning a reactive dog - so few people get to know his personality and know how sweet, hilarious, affectionate, and sassy he is.

A few of Bagel’s favorite things are his squeaky banana, cucumbers, fetch, and throw pillows (he loves to lay with his head elevated). We have learned so much about patience, dog behavior, and how to be an advocate through Bagel’s training journey. Get to know our hilarious little dude at @boulderbagel on Instagram!
